7 Weeks of LIVE Instruction starting April 15th
This course will be taught LIVE over the course of 7 weeks. I’ll break down my entire process for creating and refining lifelike portraits into easy digestible lessons where you’ll have direct access to me.
We’ll meet twice each week on Zoom, where I’ll be doing live demos, Q&A, and reviewing your work to help you get the most out of each lesson. Between sessions, you’ll have videos to review (and recordings of the demos) so you are completely supported the whole way through!
Plus, all the meetings will be recorded and added to your course area. If you miss a session, no problem! Catch the replay and jump back in, or go back and rewatch any video at any time. You’ll have lifetime access!
WEEK 1
Value & Depth
YOU’LL MASTER…
Using value (light and dark) to simplify a portrait into clear shapes and values, training your eye to see light and shadow accurately.
Mastering values first ensures a strong foundation, allowing for depth and structure before introducing color.
WEEK 2
Color Mastery
YOU’LL MASTER…
Working with color while keeping shapes distinct, and mixing vibrant, lifelike colors for every part of your portraits, from skin tones to backgrounds.
This stage strengthens your ability to make intentional color choices, building confidence in hue, saturation, and temperature.
WEEK 3
Blending Methods
YOU’LL MASTER…
Techniques for blending and transitioning around the form so your portraits look rich, developed, and masterful.
Blending techniques will help you add softness and realism without losing the clarity of your forms.
WEEK 4
Glazing & Layering
YOU’LL MASTER…
Layering thin, transparent color, to build richness and subtlety into skin tones.
This method allows for refined adjustments and adds depth to the portrait without muddying the underlying structure.
WEEK 5-6
Final Painting
YOU’LL MASTER…
Putting everything together into a clear, consistent process that results in portraits you’re proud of! In this final portrait, you’ll be invited to choose a photo YOU want to paint, and I will coach you through the process.
As the painting develops, refining details, adjusting tones, and balancing edges will bring it to a polished and expressive finish.
WEEK 7…
Final Reviews
Finally, we’ll take our time to review the final portraits, celebrate how far you’ve come, and talk about next steps!
